We've added some new features to myIR - Individuals

This is a transcript for the video on new features in myIR for businesses and business owners.

As part of this process we're updating the look of our website and myIR secure online services. As well as adding new features to simplify the tax process.


Visual:

Every few seconds, a circle in the centre of the screen with an icon in the middle of it flips over to reveal a new circle and icon. As this happens, a title below the circle fades in and out. The icons and titles are as follows:

  • a pink circle with a white icon of a calculator, tax form and some coins. The title is 'Tax assessments'.
  • an orange circle with a white icon of a hand holding a small growing sapling. The title reads 'Donations'.
  • a blue circle with the icon of a person and the title 'Account access'.

This video will provide an overview of some of the new features available in myIR for individuals.

As you begin earning new types of income you can add and manage them through the income tax tile on your myIR homepage.

Adding new types of income as you start earning will help simplify the new end of year tax process.

Sometime between mid-May and July we’ll send you an end-of-year income tax assessment.

This will show you how much you’ve earned, how much tax you’ve paid and your tax calculation for the previous tax year.

If you notice any missing income or any other mistakes on your assessment, you’ll be able to amend this in myIR.

Some taxpayers will still need to file an IR3 ‘Individual income tax return’ at the end of each tax year.

If you manage your income types in myIR, we’ll let you know if you need to file an IR3 at the end of each tax year.

You’ll also be able to amend your tax returns for the 2015 tax year onwards in myIR.

If you’ve registered for donation tax credits you can now upload your donation receipts through the ‘Donation tax credits’ tile on your myIR homepage.

We’ll process and refund any tax credit owing after the end of the tax year.

If you’ve not applied for donation tax credits in the past, you’ll need to register through myIR before uploading any donation receipts.

You can now nominate others to act on your behalf through myIR.

Once nominated, they will be able to access some or all of your accounts through their own myIR.

We’ve expanded our payment options to simplify any payments you need to make.

You can now pay with a direct debit from Australian bank accounts.

You can also plan direct debit payments from Australian banks using the ‘Set up a recurring direct payment’ tool in myIR.

If you receive Working for Families Tax Credits, you will be able to manage your family details through myIR.
