In this video, you’ll find out how to request access to someone else’s account so you can manage tax on their behalf through your own myIR account.

Visual:

Transition to myIR home screen, pointer selects the “My Business” tab. Transitions to the ‘My Business’ home page. Pointer selects ‘settings’ in the menu bar, then scrolls down to select “Get access to another party” button. Transition to ‘What to expect’ overview information page. Pointer then selects ‘Next’ button.

Audio:

To get started, log into myIR and select the ‘My business’ tab.

Choose ‘Settings’ from the menu bar and select ‘Get access to another party’. Before you get started, read the ‘what to expect’ information, then click ‘Next’.


Visual:

Transition to ‘Other party’s details’ sub page, point moves to fill in information in the ‘Please enter their IRD number’ field. Pointer then selects the ‘Next’. Transitions to ‘Select account access’ section. Pointer elects the ‘Access Role’ filled dropdown and selects “Administrator”, pointer then selects ‘Non-Individual’ from the field dropdown below.

Audio:

Provide the IRD number you are requesting account access to.

From the drop-down menu, select the ‘access role’ you would like to request. For example, administrator, restricted user, or user. A description will appear under the selection box for the access role selected.

Select either individual or non-individual.


Visual:

Screen expands to reveal a dropdown for ‘Select account(s) you wish to access’. Pointer selects ‘Fringe Benefit tax’ tick box and ‘Gaming Machine Duty’ tick box. Pointer move right to selects ‘File’ from the dropdown box under ‘fringe benefit tax’, then pointer selects the “Full account access” option for the ‘Gaming Machine Duty’ dropdown. Transition to ‘Review’ page, pointer then selects ‘Submit’. Transition to ‘Confirmation’ page, pointer then selects ‘OK’.

Audio:

Choose the accounts you'd like to access to and what level of access you'd like to have. For example, file access, full account access, make a payment or read only access.

Review the information you have entered, to make any changes click the ‘previous button’ or select ‘Submit’. To return to the homepage of ‘My business’ click ‘OK’.


Visual:

Transition to “Profile” page, a pop appears over the top identifying the Request to access. Here there is a link the either ‘Approve or decline the request’.

Audio:

The account owner will receive an email from IRD asking them to grant you access to their account. By following the steps in the email they can either accept or decline the request for account access.

Access must be granted within 24 hours. After this time the request for access expires.

When the account owner approves access to their tax account, you can access it using your myIR login.
