Availability of our services

Find out when our B2B and E-File services are available. Some services are unavailable at certain times during the week. We also have outages during the year.

Gateway services

The gateway services are generally available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, other than approved scheduled changes, which can usually be accommodated without taking down the system.

This includes the:

  • employments service
  • intermediation service
  • push notifications service
  • returns service
  • software intermediation service
  • transaction data services

If there is an unscheduled outage we will contact software providers using the service.

If you find a service isn't working correctly you can email GatewayServices@ird.govt.nz and we'll respond within three working days.

File upload services

E-File 

E-File services are unavailable from 12am to 12pm on Sundays.

Test environment

If you want access to our test environment, email SDLU@ird.govt.nz to check the testing times available.

Contact us as soon as you start any development that will require testing.

Tax agent web service (TAWS)

TAWS is unavailable from 12am to 8am on Sundays.

Bulk requests must be completed between:

  • 8pm and 8am, Monday to Friday, and
  • 2pm and 12am on Saturdays.

Ad hoc requests can be made from:

  • 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and
  • 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.

If a service isn't working correctly

If you find a service isn't working correctly, you can email us and we'll respond within five working days, depending on the complexity of the issue.

Email SDLU@ird.govt.nz with:

  • your name and contact phone number
  • a description of the problem and/or symptoms
  • screenshot(s) of what you see, and
  • any other supporting information, eg error messages or response scripts.
