This list will be updated with the research providers we have granted approved research provider (ARP) status.

If you use an approved research provider to do R&D that meets our definition, you can claim the R&D tax credit on eligible expenditure - even if the total is under the minimum threshold.

Becoming an approved research provider

To become an approved research provider, you must:

  • be capable of performing R&D activities on behalf of other people
  • have facilities to perform R&D activities in New Zealand
  • be available to perform R&D activities on behalf of third parties, and
  • perform, or will perform the R&D activities for other people for market value consideration.

How to apply

If you meet the criteria above, complete and return the Approved research provider application form - IR1203
