Update to WfFTC payment day

In April, we’re delivering a number of changes to make tax more straightforward.

This includes extending the time for you to make changes to your Working for Families Tax Credits (WfFTC) information. This means payments will be based on more up-to-date details.

As a result of these updates there will be a change to the day you receive your WfFTC payments.

What this means for most customers:

  • If you receive your payments weekly, the first payment affected will be Monday 29 April which will be in your account by the end of Tuesday 30 April.
  • If you receive your payments fortnightly, the first payment affected will be Monday 6 May which will be in your account by the end of Tuesday 7 May.

What this means for some credit union customers (who currently receive payments on a Tuesday):

  • If you receive your payments weekly, the first payment affected will be Tuesday 30 April which will be in your account by the end of Wednesday 1 May.
  • If you receive your payments fortnightly, the first payment affected will be Tuesday 7 May which will be in your account by the end of Wednesday 8 May.

The time of the day you receive your payment will depend on your bank. Banks process payments at different times.

What you need to do:

Please check and update any automatic payments you have set up with your bank to make sure they are not affected. Also, make sure any regular payments you make will not be affected by the new payment day.

We are sending out letters, emails and text messages to all WfFTC customers who may be affected by the payment date changes.
