GST (Goods and services tax) Te tāke hokohoko

Applying the old adjustment rules for goods and services acquired before 1 April 2011

GST-registered persons will be required to continue making GST adjustments for non-taxable use based on the old rules.

The obligation to make adjustments under the old rules for goods and services other than land will cease on certain dates, based on the market or book value of those goods or services on 1 April 2011.

If the market or book value of the goods or services is ... then there is no adjustment after ...
$5,000 or less 1 April 2011
more than $5,000 but not more than $10,000 1 April 2013
more than $10,000 1 April 2016

Once these dates have been reached no further adjustment for change-in-use is made, even though an asset may still be held after these dates.
