How to get a job at Inland Revenue

We want to employ the best people so Inland Revenue has the capability to deliver our government programmes in the future and ensure our continuous improvement as an organisation. To define 'best' we mean professional, empathetic, innovative, passionate and focused.

Our people enjoy the benefits of an organisation that offers them access to a wide range of careers, ongoing learning and development, the ability to balance their work and personal commitments and the stability that comes with working for an organisation that will continue to be an integral part of New Zealand life.

Take a look at the roles we have to offer - you may be surprised.

Our recruitment process

You can view all of our current opportunities from the vacancies section of this website.

Log in and register on our careers centre by uploading your resume and covering letter for the roles that interest you and suit your experience. Each time after this you see a role advertised on our site, you can simply log back in using your unique log in, and apply for additional roles. It's that easy.

When you apply for a role through the careers centre, you will automatically receive an acknowledgement receipt of your application.

Remember to tailor your covering letter and resume to the role you are applying for. We will be looking for confirmation within both your cover letter and resume that you have the experience we are seeking. Please also double check your grammar and spelling.

We aim to screen all applications within 2-5 days of the roles closing date. This may vary during peak times.

If you are not selected to progress to the next stage of the recruitment process, you will be notified by email.

Successful candidates who have been shortlisted to interview will be contacted by phone or email to arrange a suitable interview time, and information on the interview will be provided via email.

After the interviews, reference checks will be conducted for the preferred candidates.

All employment offers are made subject to clear tax, criminal and referee checks being completed. You will be asked to complete the appropriate forms for these checks to be undertaken.

Candidates who have been unsuccessful after the interview process has been completed will be contacted by phone or email. You can request feedback on your interview at this time.
